relaxation

  • a process of unwinding, integration and rejuvenation

  • easing a dysregulated, stressed nervous system

  • the opposite of "stress mode" or chronic stress

  • a wide range of body-mind states, from relaxed alertness in everyday life to sleep-like states of deep relaxation

  • practice: repeated exercise, experiential learning and, at times, methodical training nurture relaxation habits and skills
